The Challenge
The severe second wave of COVID-19 in India in 2021 left countless communities in dire need. People faced not only the health crisis but also economic instability, hunger, and a lack of vital information. The challenge was to address these multifaceted needs and bring solace to those affected.
The Solution
In response to this significant challenge, The Desai Foundation and S.P. Hinduja Banque Privée joined forces to launch the Heroes for Humanity program. This initiative empowered 500 community facilitators, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to serve rural areas across multiple states. These Heroes became the frontline warriors, providing essential support in various aspects.
The Lasting Impact
The Heroes for Humanity program has made a profound and lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals. It has directly impacted over 4.4 million people, reached over 1.8 million through HelpDesk services, and trained more than 1,100 Heroes. In addition, over 91,000 individuals have benefited from the Primary Health and Hygiene Program, while close to 590,000 have gained financial awareness through Banking and Saving Education & Awareness. Furthermore, 460,957 individuals have been positively impacted through Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness efforts.
