The Challenge
Launched in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Heroes for Humanity began as a bold experiment to reach India’s most underserved communities at a time of a dire public health crisis. With the extraordinary trust and investment of S.P. Hinduja Privee Bank, this initiative quickly grew beyond just an emergency response. Their partnership became a catalyst for redefining how we connect with rural communities, and to tackle interconnected issues of startline unemployment rates amongst rural youth, and lack of access to government schemes and public health awareness.
The Solution
The incredible reception to our COVID-19 intervention transformed Heroes for Humanity into a resilient, and highly adaptable framework for how we scale our proven models of service delivery across India.
With this collaboration as its foundation, Heroes for Humanity is now at the forefront of community-led rural impact in eight states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. By recruiting and training nearly 500 community facilitators, all drawn from the very communities they serve, we ensure that our work is rooted in genuine understanding and trust. These local leaders bring vital health and hygiene support, essential supplies, menstrual dignity programs, and hope and dignity directly to over six million individuals, making both personal and enduring change.
The Lasting Impact
Today, Heroes for Humanity stands as a testament to the power of investing deeply, trusting boldly, and reimagining what’s possible for rural India. Till date, the program has trained 1,100 community health facilitators who have gone on to directly impact over 4.4 million people through diverse programs such as HelpDesk services, Primary Health & Hygiene Programs, Banking and Saving Education & Awareness, and Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness efforts.
